I grew up spending my summers playing in the waters near my grandparents’ house in central Illinois. The small lake was home to various species of aquatic life like bluegill, bass, crappie, catfish and carp. The initial curiosity for the freshwater fish grew as I did. As my angling skills increased, so did my desire to spend as much time fishing as possible.
Several years later, while earning my MA in Latin American Studies at the University of New Mexico, I spent many days along the banks of the famed San Juan River in pursuit of rainbow and brown trout. When I returned to my hometown, Chicago, I continued to fish the waters of Lake Michigan and spent my vacations fishing all over Florida and the Caribbean where my obsession with saltwater fishing blossomed.
After years of working in a corporate environment, I felt the need to pursue my true passion which led me to the clear mountain rivers around Vail, Colorado. I was thrilled to guide anglers down some of the premier rivers like the Colorado, Eagle and Roaring Fork, hot on the trail of brown, rainbow and brook trout. Wanting to fish year round, I made the decision to permanently relocate to “Sportfishing Capital of the World,” Islamorada, Florida Keys.
After more than ten years of guiding anglers in pursuit of saltwater gamefish, I continue to enjoy each day fishing and guiding and enjoying time with my wife Kristine, and our two children, Benjamin and Sidney.
